Day 2: Chennai – Kancheepuram – Mahabalipuram
After Breakfast Drive To Mahabalipuram. En-Route Visit Visit Kachipuram.
Kancheepuram (64km), The “Golden City”, Was Once The Capital Of The Pallavas And The Cholas. These Two Powerful Ruling Dynasties Gave The City Its Numerous Temples And Tanks. The City Is Also Famous For Its “Kancheepuram Silk”. It Has Still Has 150 Active Temples, Dedicated Various Gods And Goddesses. Kancheepuram Is Also One Of 7 Holy Cities In India. In Kancheepuram Visit The Kailashnath Temple, One Of The Oldest Temples, Built In The 7th Century Ad. It Is Built Of Sand Stone And House Some Of The Most Elegant Sculptures Of Natraja (Shiva In Kosmic Dance). Finally Visit Ekambareshwara-Temple, The Biggest In The City, Are Large Complexes With Mandapas, Tanks And Sculptured Halls With Devotees Who Still Flock Here. It Has An Ancient Mango Tree, And It’s Believed That Its Branches Represent The Four Vedas And Its Fruits Are Said To Have A Different Taste. 
Later Proceed To Mahabalipuram. Arrive Mahabalipuram And Check Into Hotel. Later Visit The Magnificent Rock Temples And Carvings In Mahabalipuram. Five Rathas (Chariots) Ceremonial Chariots, Rock-Cut Monoliths, Named After The 5 Pandavas - Heroes Of The Mahabharata Epic And Draupadi Their Wife. The Shore Temple By The Sea Surrounded By Gardens Designed According To Descriptions Of The Original Layout From Ancient Times. Built In Sandstone In The 7th Century. Bhagiratha’s Penance Is A Bas- Relief (27 To 9m) Sculptured On The Face Of Two Enormous Adjacent Rocks, Depicts, The Penance Of Arjuna, Myraid Characters From The Mahabharata, Realistic Life-Size Figures Of Animals, Gods And Saints Watching The Descent Of The River Goddess Ganga To Earth. Day 3: Mahabalipuram- Pondicherry
After Breakfast Drive To Pondicherry (162 Kms/4 Hrs). Pondicherry, Which Was Up Until The 1950s, A Far-Flung Outpost Of The French Maritime Empire. It Is So Different From The Rest Of Tamil Nadu That One Feels That One Has Entered Another Country! This Busy Coastal Town Is Divided Roughly Into Two: The Old White Town Of Elegant French Houses, Restaurants & Administrative Buildings And The Black Town West Of The Canal Where India Takes Over Again. Later Proceed To Visit Botanical Garden, Eglise De Sacre Coeur De Jesus And Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Later Visit Township Of Auroville Or The City Of Dawn. Designed By A French Architect Roger Arger, It Is An Entirely New Concept In Education And Urban Living. Night Stay In Pondicherry.
Day 4 : Pondicherry - Tanjore
After Breakfast Drive To Tanjore (177-Kms/4-½ Hrs). Upon Arrival Transfer To Hotel. Afternoon Sightseeing Tour Of Tanjore Was The Capital Of The Chola Empire From The Tenth To The Fourteenth Centuries. A Chola King, Raja Raja Chola, Who Held The Throne From 985 To 1016, Built The Greatest Of The Empire's 74 Temples, The Brahadeeswarar, With Its Soaring Tower Over The Inner Sanctum. This Tower Rises More Than 62 Meters (200 Feet). On Its Dome Rests A Single Block Of Granite Weighing 80 Tons. Night Stay In Tanjore.
Day 5: Tanjore - Trichy
After Breakfast Drive To Trichy. Trichurapalli, Was A Citadel Of The Early Cholas Which Later Fell To The Pallavas. The Most Famous Land Mark Of This Bustling Town Is The Rockfort Temple.Arrive Trichy And Check Into Hotel. Later Visit The Rock Fort Built On A 84m High Rock, From Where You Can Have A Memorable View Of The Surroundings, Although You Need To Climb 437 Rock Cut Steps. After Sightseeing Drive To Madurai. En-Route Visit Srirangam, The Big Temple City, Which Lies On An Island On The Kaveri. The Ranganathasvami Temple Dedicated To Lord Vishnu, One Of The Largest Temple In South India, Is Famous For Its Superb Sculpture – The 21 Impressive Gopurams And Its Rich Collection Of Temple Jewellery. There Is A Huge Statue Of Lord Vishnu. Not To Forget The Hall With 1000 Pillars And Horse Sculptures. Finally Visit The Jambukeshwara-Temple Dedicated To Lord Shiva, Is One Of The Oldest And Largest Temples Of Tamil Nadu, Has Five Walls And Seven Gopurams. Day 6: Trichy - Madurai
After Breakfast Drive To Madurai, Arrive Madurai & Transfer To Hotel.Later Visit The Meenakshi Temple One Of The Biggest Temple Complexes In India 46 Ft. Long By 790 Ft Broad Built In The 17th Century. It Is A Rectangular Twin Shrine : The Southern Temple Dedicated To Meenakshi (The Consort Of Shiva) And The Other To Shiva. It Is Madurai's Greatest Landmark A Virtual City Within A City: The Complex Includes A Bazaar That Bustles From Dawn To Nightfall. The High Point Of The Meenakshi Temple Is Hall Of A "Thousand Pillars", Built In The 16th C Which Is As Great A Work Of Structural Engineering As It Is Of Art. Also Visit The Palace Of Tirumala Nayak Which Is An Example Of The Architectural Mastery Of The Nayaks A Blend Of Hindu And Saracen Architecture. It's Enormous Roofed Arcade Supported By 48 Foot High Stoned Pillar Still Stands, At 9 Pm, Attend The Night Ceremony At The Temple. This Is A Ceremony That Takes Place Every Evening When The Temple Bronze Of Lord Shiva Is Carried To The Bed Chamber Of Parvati. The Procession Is Accompanied By Religious Prayer And Temple Music. Day 7 : Madurai- Kanyakumari
